Dear Family, I haven't seen Alma in almost 30 years but the time I spent with her was very special. We got together and played bridge and she was a real southern lady. I still use a recipe she gave me for a pineapple coolwhip pie.

Alma was my first friend when my husband and I moved to Savannah. Upon seeing us move in, she rushed over to introduce herself, taking my hand in hers as she would do countless times thereafter. Her unit at The Shadows was adjacent to ours. She and I shared many of our life stories. We cried and laughed and thoroughly enjoyed our times together. She was delightful and a real Southern lady - a model for me in my years ahead. My husband, Mel, joins me in expressing our condolences and hope that these words will comfort you at this sad time. Dear Stan and Sheila, Our deepest sympathies in the loss of your mother. May the Lord bless and keep you at this time of great sorrow. 'I noticed that many times along the path of my life, there was only one set of footprints. I also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in my life;this really bothered me, and I questioned the Lord about it.'Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you,You would walk with me all the way;But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life,There is only one set of footprints.I don't understand why in times when I needed you the most, you should leave me.The Lord replied, 'My precious, precious child. I love you, and I would never, never leave you during your times of trial and suffering. When you saw only one set of footprints,It was then that I carried you.' Sincerely,
